Bangladesh received $200.73 crore in remittances in the first 21 days of December through banking channels.
The surge in remittances has been attributed to expatriates opting for legal channels, particularly following the political changeover in the country.
According to the latest update from Bangladesh Bank, the daily average remittances came to $9.55 crore or Tk 1,145 crore during the period.
The remittance concerned said if this trend of remittances continues, the country's expatriate income will be close to a record three billion dollars in December.
The country received $61.31 crore of remittances through state-owned banks, $7.73 crore through a specialized bank, $131.16 crore through private banks and $51.60 lakh of remittances through foreign banks.
