Jewellers have increased the price of gold by Tk 2,088 to Tk 1,40,586 per bhori (11.664 grams) within four day of dropping price of the precious metal.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Wednesday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk 12,053 per gram, and 21-carat Tk 11,505 per gram, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 9,862 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk 8,100 per gram.
New prices will come into effect on Thursday, the release added. However, prices of silver remained unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 221 per gram, 21-carat Tk 210, 18-carat Tk 181, and traditional one is Tk 136 per gram.
