The High Court has ordered the immediate resolution of a review petition filed with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) regarding the post-training placement of 311 sub-inspectors (SI) dismissed for indiscipline at the Sarda Police Academy in Rajshahi. In addition, the Court has issued a rule questioning the legality of exempting these 311 individuals from training and whether they should be reinstated as sub-inspector upon completion of their training.
The ruling was issued on Wednesday by a High Court division bench led by Justice Md. Akram Hossain Chowdhury and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raja. Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua and Advocate Ripon Kumar Barua represented the petitioners in the case.
The respondents, including the Home Secretary, the IGP, and the Principal of the Police Academy, have been ordered to respond to the rule within four weeks.
Previously, recruits from the 40th BCS (Police) Probationers Batch-2023 were granted exemptions. On December 5, the 311 dismissed candidates filed a separate writ petition with the High Court seeking reinstatement to their positions.
