BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said that while the “head” of autocracy has fled, its “tail” remains, and vigilance is crucial while fighting against fascism.
He made these remarks on Tuesday while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop titled "31-Point State Structure Reform Proposal and Public Engagement," organized by the Narayanganj district BNP.
Tarique Rahman stated, “The ‘head’ of autocracy has fled, but its ‘tail’ remains. We must stay alert against them. Even within our ranks, there are agents infiltrating. We must remain vocal against them as well. If anyone thinks that the opposition has fled and the election will be easy, they are wrong. The election will be very, very challenging. We want to overcome this election with the support of the people.”
He added, “When people know you are involved in BNP politics, they greet you with respect and ask, ‘Brother, when will the election take place?’ Businessmen ask, ‘Brother, when will the election be held? Business is not running smoothly.’ They ask because people have expectations. They trust that BNP can deliver something good.”
The acting chairman emphasized, “The greatest success of any political party is to gain the trust of the people. Many others like you exist, but how many receive such respect from the public? The way people interact with you is because you are part of BNP. Their future is tied to your actions.”
He further explained, “Earning public trust is the greatest success for any political party. Maintaining this trust is not the responsibility of the public; it is our collective responsibility. People will judge BNP based on your actions in your area. If you do well, BNP looks good. If you falter, BNP is judged negatively. The public’s perception of BNP depends on you.”
Addressing party leaders and activists, Tarique Rahman said, “Those who engage in wrongdoing must be dealt with an iron fist. You are here today as leaders. Many people work under your leadership. Make sure no one tarnishes the party’s image for personal gain.”
