Another 85 Bangladeshis have returned home from war-torn Lebanon with the help of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment, the Bangladesh Mission in Beirut, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The group arrived on Friday morning aboard Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-0680, chartered by the Bangladesh government.
With this latest return, a total of 1,048 Bangladeshis have been repatriated from Lebanon on sixteen flights. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment, and IOM welcomed the returnees. Each individual received Tk 5,000, essential food, and basic medical care from IOM.
Tragically, one Bangladeshi national has been reported killed in the ongoing conflict in Lebanon. The government is covering the repatriation costs for those wishing to return, while continuing efforts to ensure the safety of Bangladeshis who choose to remain in Lebanon through the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut.
