Seven more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Sunday morning. With this, the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh rose to 529 this year.
Among the deaths, three occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and one each in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Rajshahi divisions.
During the period, 596 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, according to DGHS.
Of them, 136 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka division, 130 under the DSCC, and 98 under the DNCC.
A total of 96,228 dengue cases have been reported since 1 January.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 1,705 people, making it the deadliest year on record. According to DGHS, there were 3,21,179 cases and 3,18,749 recoveries in 2023.
