The northern district of Naogaon is gripped by severe cold, disrupting daily life and causing hardships for low-income workers, reports Dhaka Tribune.
On Saturday at 9:00am, the Badalgachhi Weather Observation Center recorded a temperature of 9.9°C, the lowest temperature in the district so far this year.
Locals reported that temperatures drop further in the evening, accompanied by chilly winds that intensify the cold.
From evening till dawn, the area remains blanketed in fog, though the sun appears shortly after the fog dissipates.
As the cold intensifies, the struggles of homeless and working-class people increase.
Kurban Ali, a rickshaw puller in Sadar Upazila, said: “During the day, when it’s slightly warmer, I get passengers and can ride my rickshaw properly. But early morning or evening, passengers are scarce, and the cold makes it hard to work, reducing my income.”
According to Mizanur Rahman, an official at the Badalgachhi Weather Observation Center, the district recorded 9.9°C on Saturday morning.
