Customs officials at Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport have recovered over 1.1 kg of smuggled gold from a Dubai-Sylhet flight.
The gold, valued at over Tk1.3 crore, was discovered under a seat on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG-248) that landed at 9:25 am on Friday.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Customs Bikash Chandra Debnath confirmed the recovery, saying that 18 gold bangles and three gold chains wrapped in polythene were found.
No arrests have been made yet, but investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for the smuggling attempt, AC Bikash Chandra added.
