Police have arrested Nasir Uddin Ahmed Ferdous, president of central executive body of Bangabandhu Matsyajibi Parishad, in a case filed over an attack on students and people during the July-August mass uprising.
He was arrested around 8:00 pm on Thursday from Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area, said Khilgaon Police Station.
According to the case details on July 19, a peaceful protest by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and people was brought out in Meradia Bazaar.
A pro-Awami League group carried out attacks on the protesters with firearms, leaving one Md Ahadul Islam injured.
His father Md Bakar filed the case on October 17 at Khilgaon Police Station.
The arrestee was named in the case, said Talebur Rahma, deputy commissioner (DC media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Legal action against him was underway, added the DC.
