Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, has stated that there will be no more unjust compromises with India.
He made the statement in a Facebook post at 10 p.m. on Monday (Dec 2).
Hasnat Abdullah said that over the past fifty years, Bangladesh has sought to establish relations with India through compromises, submission, and subservient dialogues. However, the outcomes have largely been disappointing, characterized by betrayal, exploitation, and a disregard for our sovereign rights.
The prominent coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement stated that the time has now come for a new perspective. In the days ahead, Bangladesh will establish relations with India based on equality, firm resolve, and clarity. There will be no more unjust compromises. We will firmly protect and demand what is rightfully ours.
"Bangladesh seeks to stand not in the shadow of India, but as a confident and capable partner, or, if necessary, as a strong competitor," added Hasnat Abdullah.
"Our sovereignty and interests are non-negotiable, and we are prepared to take all necessary steps to protect them."
He concluded the post with the expression, "Motherland or death."
