Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer, has talked about his desire to build a nation that will be free from any kind of influence from other countries.
"Everyone from abroad is a friend, not a master. We want a dignified Bangladesh that will view everyone as friends but won’t accept anyone as a master. Wherever we extend our hand, we want to feel the hand of friendship, not one of aggression."
He made these remarks today (Sunday) while delivering a speech as the chief guest at a workers' conference held at the local Eastern Jute Mills Shramik Maidan and organized by Khan Jahan Ali Thana Jamaat in Khulna Metropolitan.
The Jamaat Ameer further stated, "Although we desire a peaceful Bangladesh, there are some who cannot tolerate us living in peace even for a minute. They seek to rob us of our tranquility. That is why we sometimes see dark clouds and, at other times, the shadow of ominous vultures in our skies. We must stay vigilant and keep a sharp eye on this."
Addressing the activists of Jamaat, he said, "You must enrich yourselves with the light of knowledge. The message of goodness must be delivered door to door. Stand by people as friends in times of distress. Inspire hope among people, showing them that progress is achievable. Together, we can build this nation into a superior society and a great country."
