Long-distance bus services from Benapole resumed on Thursday evening after a six-day suspension. The services restarted at 6:30 pm, with buses now operating from the Benapole Checkpost Land Port Bus Terminal, according to Mizanur Rahman, general secretary of the Benapole Transport Manager Association.
"The resumption followed successful talks between the Ministry of Transport and Land Port Authority", the Chairman said.
He explained that the disruption began on November 7 when a new municipal bus terminal was inaugurated at Kagojpukur in Benapole. Passengers were being dropped off there late at night, leading to disputes between transport owners and workers. This conflict resulted in the suspension of all long-distance bus operations starting on November 23.
Manager of Benapole Royal Dutch Transport explained that, the transport owners' association and labor organizations had resolved their issues after meetings with the shipping adviser and the chairman of the land port.
“All long-distance AC buses will now operate from the Benapole Checkpost Land Port Bus Terminal,” he confirmed.
Benapole Land Port Deputy Director added that the bus terminal gate had reopened following instructions from the Land Port Authority Chairman.
The suspension of services, from November 23 to November 28, had caused significant inconvenience for passengers.
