BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has claimed that India is “deeply saddened” by Sheikh Hasina's exile and is allegedly conspiring to bring her back to Bangladesh and reinstate her in power.
Rizvi also accused Indian media of spreading propaganda against an independent Bangladesh to support Sheikh Hasina. He remarked, “If India has so much affection for Sheikh Hasina, they should build another Taj Mahal for her in India.”
Speaking as the chief guest at the fourth match of the Shaheed Zia Memorial Football Tournament at Lalmonirhat’s Borobari College ground on Sunday afternoon, Rizvi drew comparisons between the two political leaders.
He said, “Khaleda Zia endured imprisonment and stayed in the country, while Sheikh Hasina fled to India, abandoning her supporters. This highlights the stark difference between the two leaders.”
Addressing the Chief Adviser, Rizvi warned of ongoing conspiracies and urged vigilance. He called for a free and fair election to restore democracy in Bangladesh.
The BNP leader further alleged that Sheikh Hasina remained in power by committing widespread killings and suppressing opposition voices. “She ran the country on her whims, orchestrated bank loots, and is now directing Awami League activists to carry out terrorist activities while in exile,” he claimed.
Rizvi urged the public to remain alert to prevent the return of fascism, stating, “Only then will the sacrifices of students and citizens be meaningful.”
The event was also addressed by BNP Organizing Secretary and former minister Asadul Habib Dulu, Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan BNP Convener Shamsuzzaman Shamu, and District BNP Joint Secretary AKM Mominul Haque.
