A Dhaka court on Saturday sent actor Shomi Kaiser and private TV channel Gaan Bangla chairman Kaushik Hossain Taposh to jail after completing their remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Istiaque passed the order after the hearing.
Shomi Kaiser and Taposh were produced before the court upon completion of their remand. Sub-inspector Mrittunjoy Pandit Mithun of Uttara Paschim Police Station pleaded to send them to prison.
Earlier on November 3, police arrested Taposh from the capital’s Uttara while actor Shomi Kaiser, daughter of martyred intellectual Shahidullah Kaiser and a member of the Awami League’s Liberation War sub-committee, was arrested by Uttara police on November 5.
Later, on November 6, a Dhaka court granted a three-day remand for Taposh and Shomi Kaiser in an attempted murder case filed with Uttara East Police Station.
