Chittagong Medical College and Hospital has expelled 75 students on charges of engaging in activities that violate institutional discipline. Additionally, 11 other students have been warned and released from charges after providing a written agreement.
The director of Chittagong Medical College Hospital Mohammad Taslim Uddin confirmed the matter. He stated that two months ago, a 12-member investigation committee was formed in response to various complaints against medical college students and intern doctors. The committee reviewed student testimonies, media reports, and other relevant information. When the investigation was done, the committee took the final decision on Monday.
“There are allegations against these students of beating other students, disrupting academic activities, and creating havoc in resident halls. After the investigation, actions have been taken against those who are involved in crimes,” said Mr Taslim.
The authorities did not specify if the expelled students had any political affiliations.
Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of Bangladesh Awami League was banned on Wednesday. Already some of those who are associated with the organization have been arrested.
