A Khulna court has awarded a death sentence to five people in a case filed over the murder of Zahid in the Khalispur area of the city.
The court also fined each of the convicts Tk1,00,000.
Justice Md Jewel Rana, a judge of the Tribunal for Prevention of Offenses Disturbing Public Safety in Khulna, handed down the verdict on Monday.
The death row convicts are Abbas Ansari, Noshu Farazi, Riaz, Nadim and Jabbar.
The acquitted accused in this case are - Md. Rana Hossain, Sultan alias Gabbar, Pati Sagar, Md. Omar Farooq alias Arif, Md. Mehedi Hasan alias Packet Mehdi, Md. Zahidul Islam Zahid and Asif.
