Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the Fire Service and Civil Defence has limitations, not disappointments, reports Independent.
He made this remark on Monday after visiting the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence at Fulbariya.
“The fire service unit has limitations, yet it is working nationwide with success,” the adviser said.
“Fire service is praised for their activities home and abroad,” he added, and called upon the fire bridged officers and employees to work keeping the earned reputation intact.
Fire Fighters have to work in risky situations, and they have no fixed working hours too.
He said, “32 Upazilas have no fire station” and assured that the authority will set soon fire station in Upazilas with no fire station.
The adviser said, “The fire service has a lower risk allowance than other law enforcement agencies.” He also assured of considering an increase of risk allowance for fire fighters.
In response to a question about the fire service’s modern equipment and machinery, the adviser said, “We have modern technology equipment including drones. But we may be a bit behind compared to developed countries. However, necessary steps are being taken in this regard as well.”
