Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday said they want the trial of killers of worthy sons of the soil under the same law and tribunal that they (killers) used to kill them illegally, state news agency BSS reported.
"We don't want to take revenge for what repression they carried out on our party, but we want justice for the killings and punishment of the kingpins," he told the party's district unit Rukon Conference at Hefzul Ulum Alia Madrasha ground in Chapainawabganj sadar as the chief guest.
The Jamaat Ameer alleged that the Awami League assumed state power three times in a row, but people could not exercise their voting rights in any of the elections.
"Awami League became lord of the country instead of serving the people. We don't want to see any lord in the form of a human in the country. Allah is the lord of the country and who will come to power will serve the countrymen."
About the future Bangladesh, he said, "We want such a Bangladesh where there will be no discrimination and the country will be humanitarian and free from injustice and unemployment. Here a child would be born with four fundamental rights --living, treatment, education and employment."
Castigating the ousted Awami League government, he said that they (Awami League) banned Jamaat-e-Islami on August 1 and only after four days Allah banned them on August 5.
District unit Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Abu Zar Gifari presided over the conference while its secretary Professor Abu Bakr conducted it.
