Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday said that the law enforcement agencies had ‘almost identified’ the killers of MP Anwarul Azim Anar.
“All we have done...Only announcement is due,” he told journalists while replying to a question regarding arrest of lawmaker Anar’s killers.
The minister said that he would make an announcement on Anar’s killers following discussion with intelligence agencies of both the countries, reports BSS.
Anwarul Azim Anar, a Member of Parliament from Jhenidah-4 constituency, went missing in Kolkata (West Bengal) last week and later was murdered in a residential flat there.
Giving details, the home minister said the body of Anar was recovered yet.
“We have not recovered the body yet. What you have heard, we have also heard that. I can't officially tell you anything until the body is recovered,” he added.
The minister told newsmen that Intelligence agencies of the two countries are working on it and it is not right time to say more as the matter is under investigation. After confirmation, we will provide you details, he told the newsmen.
He said a case was filed in connection with Anar murder by her daughter and then Bangladesh police and intelligence agencies were working on it.
He said Police and intelligence agencies of both Bangladesh and India have been working on the murder.
During the briefing, security division secretary Md Mustafizur Rahman, Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Habibur Rahman, among others, were present on the occasion.
