EC gets Tk 2,406 crore budget ahead of polls

The budgetary allocation against the Election Commission (EC) has been increased by nearly Tk 900 crore for the upcoming fiscal year when the next national election will be held.

The allocation against the EC Secretariat in the proposed national budget for 2023-24 fiscal year is Tk 2,406 crore, which was Tk 1,539 crore in the 2022-23 fiscal year.

But the allocation against the EC came down to Tk 1,423 crore in the revised budget for the outgoing fiscal year, reports UNB.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed the proposed budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year in Parliament on Thursday.
