Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a man and seized four gold bars weighing 506 grams from his possession worth Tk 44 lakh in Satkhira on Sunday.
The detainee is Shamimul Islam 40, son of Sajedul Islam of Garakhali village of Keragachi union under Kalaroa upazila of the district.
Major Reza Ahmed, acting Commander of BGB's Satkhira-33 battalion, said acting on a tip-off, BGB conducted the drive at the Binerpota area on Satkhira-Khulna road and arrested Shamimul with the gold bars.
The BGB personnel also seized a motorcycle from the spot.
According to police, Shamimul said the gold bars were being smuggled to India.
A case was filed in this connection and the detainee was sent to jail through court, said, Satkhira Sadar Police Station inspector Mizanur Rahman.
