BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that country’s people are suffering in the name of the so-called development of the government.
He said, “Yesterday’s blackout is an abnormal one. There was no electricity for around eight hours in most parts of the country. The government claimed that Bangladesh is self-sufficient in power production.”
Mirza Fakhrul made the allegation while visiting ailing BNP standing committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku at his residence in the capital on Tuesday.
The senior leader of the party alleged that the government has made many projects and "embezzled" a lot of money. Now it (Government) lent the country into trouble.
Urging the government to quit in a hurry, Fakhrul said the next parliamentary elections will have to be completed under a non-party caretaker government.
BNP standing committee members Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku were present at that time.
