Man held with 40 gold bars in Jhenaidah

A man was detained with 40 gold bars weighing 4.668 kg from Jadavpur village under Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah on Thursday, BGB said.

The detainee was identified as Shawkat Ali, 50.

Lt Col Shahin Azad, director of Moheshpur-Khalishpur camp of BGB-58 Battalion, said, Shawkat was detained from the Matila border while he was trying to smuggle the gold bars to India in the afternoon. 

The detainee was handed over to Moheshpur Police Station and a case was filed in this connection, he added.
