Three people of a family died from electrocution in Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Hosne Ara Begum, 60, her son Tara Mia, 30, and grandson Rifat Hossain, 8 of Elkhal village under the upazila.
Local union parishad member Jasim Uddin said Rifat Hossain went to nearby cropland to collect spinach at noon. At one stage, he came in contact with a live electric wire detached from a pole. Hearing his scream, Hosne Ara rushed to the spot to save Rifat and she also came in contact with the wire.
Later, her son Tara Mia also went there to save the duo and embraced the same fate.
Confirming the matter, Kamruzzaman Talukder, officer-in-charge of Bangura Bazar Police Station said, the police force has been sent to the spot.
