Train services to Paris Gare du Nord were suspended on Friday after a World War II bomb was discovered on the tracks leading to France’s busiest railway terminal, officials said.
The unexploded device was found overnight during maintenance work in the Saint-Denis suburb, according to the national rail company SNCF. It was located "in the middle of the tracks," the company said.
The RER B suburban train service confirmed on X that the bomb dated back to the Second World War.
All rail traffic to Gare du Nord, which serves Eurostar, high-speed, and local trains, was halted while Paris police worked to secure and remove the device.
Gare du Nord, located in northern Paris, is the country's busiest train station, handling around 700,000 passengers daily, according to SNCF.
