The Yemeni rebel group said it fired a “Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile” at Israel’s Nevatim air base in the Nagab or Negev desert, reports Al Jazeera.
The Houthis claimed the projectile “successfully hit its target” and said the attack was in response to Israel’s massacres of “our brothers in Gaza” as well as the “Israeli aggression on our country”.
Israel’s military, however, said earlier that the missile – launched overnight on Saturday – was successfully intercepted.
The Times of Israel said the Houthis have launched 10 ballistic missiles and nine drones towards Israel in the past month alone.
The Houthis also claimed downing a US military drone over Yemen.
