At least seven Palestinians were killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp, located in the central Gaza Strip, medics reported to Reuters; citing the agency the Dawn reported this on Wednesday.
In Beit Hanoun, a town in northern Gaza, Israeli forces launched another airstrike, resulting in deaths and injuries. Rescue teams reported that several people were trapped under the rubble of a collapsed house. The Israeli military has not yet commented on either attack.
Israeli operations have been ongoing in Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahiya, and the Jabalia refugee camp since October 5, with the stated goal of targeting Hamas militants and preventing their regrouping.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International condemned the U.S. for welcoming former Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant despite an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for alleged war crimes in Gaza. The Biden administration's reception of Gallant was criticized by Amnesty, which called for adherence to international law.
World Central Kitchen (WCK), a U.S.-based charity, has dismissed dozens of Palestinian employees in Gaza after Israel alleged that some workers had ties to armed groups. At least three workers confirmed to Reuters that 62 staff members were let go, although WCK emphasized that it had no evidence linking them to any terrorist organizations.
WCK stated that the staff changes were made to protect the charity's operations after Israel requested an investigation into its hiring practices in Gaza. The charity added that it had not received specific intelligence from Israel regarding the accused individuals.
