Destiny Group President retired Lieutenant General Mohammed Harun-Ar-Rashid on Tuesday was granted six months' bail from the High Court (HC) in the case filed over embezzling money of the investors.
The bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat granted the bail after the defence submitted the reports of his health examination.
Lawyer Robiul Alam stood for the defence and lawyer Md Khurshid Alam Khan appeared for the ACC, while Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state.
Earlier on June 29, the court sought Harun’s medical report.
The High Court accepted the hearing of his case on June 9. However, on that day, he wasn’t granted bail.
According to the case statement, Destiny Multipurpose Co-operative Society cheated more than 8.5 lakh investors from July 2009 to June 2012. It embezzled and laundered more than Tk 4,119 crore.
