Gold prices have risen to Tk2,12,145 per bhori (11.664 grammes) as the cost of pure gold continues to climb in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) approved the price adjustment at a meeting on Thursday.
Gold last hit a record high on 20 October, when it reached Tk2,17,382 per bhori.
According to a press release signed by committee chairman Masudur Rahman, the new prices set 22-carat gold at Tk18,188 per gramme and 21-carat gold at Tk17,361 per gramme. The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk14,881 per gramme, while traditional gold will cost Tk12,382 per gramme.
The revised tariffs will come into effect on Friday.
Silver prices remain unchanged, with 22-carat silver priced at Tk364 per gramme, 21-carat at Tk347, 18-carat at Tk298, and traditional silver at Tk223 per gramme.
Buyers must also pay an additional 5% VAT set by the government, along with a minimum 6% making charge fixed by BAJUS, though the making charge may vary depending on design and quality, the release added.
