British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke has said that Bangladesh will continue to enjoy duty-free access to the UK market until 2029, reports the Daily Sun.
She made the remarks on Sunday while addressing as a special guest at the HSBC Export Excellence Awards 2025 at a hotel in the capital.
Cook added that even after 2029, around 92% of Bangladeshi products, including readymade garments, will continue to enter the UK market duty-free.
This, she noted, will help strengthen the diversification and resilience of Bangladesh’s export sector.
She further said the decision reflects the UK’s strong interest in deepening long-term trade and economic cooperation with Bangladesh.
The high commissioner expressed optimism that economic ties between the two countries would grow even stronger in the coming years.
