The Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association has announced a fresh hike in edible oil prices, raising the retail rates of both soybean and palm oil effective Monday morning.
In a statement issued Sunday evening, the association said bottled soybean oil will now retail at Tk 195 per litre, up from Tk 189. The price of loose soybean oil has been increased by Tk 7, setting the new rate at Tk 176 per litre, while a five-litre bottle will now cost Tk 955, up from Tk 922.
Palm oil has seen the steepest adjustment, with prices rising by Tk 16 per litre to Tk 166, compared to the earlier Tk 150.
The association said the revised rates were set in consultation with the commerce ministry and reflect the need to align domestic prices with trends in the international market.
