Jewellers have lowered the price of gold by Tk1,621 to Tk1,26,321 per bhori (11.664 grams) amid a tariff drop on pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Sunday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk10,830 per gram, while it is Tk10,338 for 21-carat gold, read a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk8,861 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk7,326 a gram.
The new tariffs will come into effect on Monday, it added.
Prices of silver, however, remained unchanged.
Currently, the price of 22-carat silver is Tk180 per gram, 21-carat Tk172, 18-carat Tk147, and traditional silver Tk110 a gram.
