Five bodies have been recovered from a cargo ship in the Meghna River in the Harina Ferry Ghat area of Chandpur. However, the cause of the deaths and identities of the killed people are not known yet.
The dead bodies were found around 3:15 pm on Monday. It is thought that they were killed in a robbery attack on the ship.
Law enforcement officers went to the scene after receiving information on the national emergency service number 999. The ship MV Al-Bakhera was anchored at the river port.
Coast Guard Chandpur Station Commander Lt. General Fazlul Haque said five bodies were found in the cargo ship MV Al-Bakhera, which was loaded with fertilizer. The bodies were wrapped in blankets. The heads of the bodies seemed to be crushed. At that time, two people were rescued in a dying condition.
Earlier, three people were rescued in a serious condition and admitted to Chandpur Sadar Hospital. Later, one of them was declared dead by the doctor on duty.
