The government is taking an initiative to sell egg at affordable price at 13 places under Dhaka north and south city corporations from tomorrow (November 9).
Director General of the Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection (DNCRP) Md Alim Akhter Khan revealed the information while addressing a programme at the FDC in Dhaka on Saturday.
The consumers will be able to purchase eggs at a low price from seven locations under the Dhaka South City Corporation and six locations under the Dhaka North City Corporation, he said.
The government is going to undertake the initiative as people struggle to manage their family expenses amid the skyrocketing prices of almost all essential items.
Regarding the overall market situation ahead of Ramadan, the government official emphasised the need for good governance to eliminate syndicates in the kitchen market.
Currently, a dozen chicken eggs (layer) are being sold for Tk 150, duck eggs for Tk 240, Paragon brown eggs for Tk 205, and local chicken eggs for Tk 240.
