Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said crimes in society have decreased as a good relation made between the people and police by providing legal services and assistance of various crimes.
He said this at a discussion today marking Community Policing Day in the capital.
DMP Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam presided over the discussion while Inspector General of Police Dr Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique, and high officials of the police department were present.
Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out on the occasion of Community Policing Day which ended at Rajarbagh Police Lines parading DMP Headquarters.
