Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer, stated on Monday that the massive investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure should not be viewed as a bubble, but as the "new normal" in response to soaring demand, reports.
In her first interview since taking office on August 18, Simo explained to AFP that the increasing investments in AI reflect the growing need for computing power to support a wide range of applications. She specifically pointed to OpenAI's flagship model, ChatGPT, which requires substantial computational resources.
Simo emphasized, "What I am seeing is a massive investment in computing power... We're meeting this need for computing power that is incredibly high for so many use cases that people want."
From her perspective, the current trend should not be seen as a speculative bubble, but as a long-term shift in the tech landscape. "I really do not see that as a bubble. I see it as a new normal. And I think the world is going to realize that computing power is the most strategic resource," she added.
