Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed on Friday that Najmul Hossain will captain the national team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, putting an end to various speculations surrounding the leadership role.
It was reported that the current across-format skipper Najmul is not interested to lead any more after the two-match test series but BCB president Faruque Ahmed managed to convince him to lead the ODI squad.
Uncapped pacer Nahid Rana has been added to the ODI squad, while Litton Das was left out due to health concerns.
"He is still suffering from fever, which also ruled him out of the second test against South Africa," BCB stated on Friday.
Anamul Haque, Taijul Islam and Hasan Mahmud could not make a cut in the squad that saw the return of Zakir Hasan and Nasum Ahmed.
Another notable absentee is pacer Tanjim Shakib as he failed to recover from shoulder injury. Apart from that Shakib Al Hasan was not picked for the ODI series.
The Bangladesh team will depart for Dubai in two groups on November 2 and 3 to participate in the ODI series, scheduled to be held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on November 6, 9, and 11.
