Earlier in the first innings, Afghanistan collected 272 runs in 50 overs losing 8 wickets.
Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi scored the highest 80 runs off 88 balls and middle-order batter Azmatullah Omarzai scored 62 runs from 69 balls.
Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah bagged 4 wickets while Hardik Pandya got 2 wickets.
Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first.
