Those who mercilessly torture children and brutally murder them are usually affected by psychopathic personality disorder. Their mentality is much like that of serial killers. In most cases, children are being victimized by perverted sexual desires through people they know. And these criminals are generating perverted tastes in themselves by watching child pornography. In this case, mentally ill and drug addicts are more involved in such crimes.
Criminologists and psychiatrists told Bangladesh Pratidin these things. According to the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, 75 children were raped in the first four months of this year. And 23 children were gang-raped. Out of these, 9 children were killed. Under the brutal torture of these miscreants of perverted desires, tender children like Acia and Ramisa are dying prematurely.
Recently, a second-grade student, Ramisa, was brutally raped and murdered by her neighbor in Pallabi, Dhaka. The girl was raped, her throat slit, and body was cut into several pieces. This year, a child was rescued from the Sitakunda forest in Chittagong with her throat slit. After failing to rape the child, her neighbor Babu Sheikh tried to kill her. The child was rescued from a remote mountain. But the next day, on the night of March 2, the child died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Last year, Asia, a child from Magura, was also brutally raped and tortured to death by her acquaintances. Eight-year-old Asia from Magura was raped and brutally tortured at her sister's in-laws' house. Later, Asia died while undergoing treatment at CMH in Dhaka.
Former director of the National Institute of Mental Health and psychiatrist Professor Dr. Golam Rabbani told Bangladesh Pratidin, "People who commit such brutal murders are suffering from psychopathic personality disorder. These are special types of individuals, whose job is to commit such heinous crimes with a very cold mind. And by committing such crimes, they get a kind of demonic pleasure, which we can also call personality pollution. These criminals plan and commit crimes with great precision, which is not possible for a normal person. The more they do such things, the more the desire to commit these crimes increases.”
He said, “This is a kind of mental condition. But it is not a disease. These criminals will blend in very well with the person they want to do harm, but will not let him understand that he has any bad intentions. Their mentality is much like that of a serial killer.”
Chairman and assistant professor of the Department of Criminology at Dhaka University, Md. Rezaul Karim Sohag said, “When a culture of impunity continues in a country, such brutal criminal activities increase. Now, along with child rape, the number of post-rape murders is also increasing. Drugs are much more easily available. The number of people with distorted brains is also increasing. Pornography is also now within reach, which is creating a perverted taste in people.”
He said, '”ccording to the wife of Ramisa's killer, the criminal had a very perverted taste. That is why the man brutally killed Ramisa. The criminal is not mentally healthy. The man was involved in criminal activities before. Since the previous crime was not punished, he has again engaged in big and heinous crimes. As people's involvement with their families has decreased, many are now getting involved in such crimes. They are addicted to drugs and perverted sex. They are behaving in horrible, violent and perverted sexual ways.”
Elina Khan, executive advocate of Bangladesh Human Rights Foundation, said, “When young children are abused, they immediately inform their guardians. When a child is subjected to perverted sexual abuse, the criminals are afraid that they may tell others about the incident. That is why they are afraid of being caught if they do not kill the child. And in most cases, people they know commit this perverted sexual abuse. Children are now not safe anywhere, at home or outside. Now the criminals have perverted tastes.
