Underworld top criminals have been stirring up trouble in the country's crime world for decades. In the fight for supremacy, some are targeting people from outside the country and some from within the country, carrying out one after another targeted killings, shootings and threats. In these incidents, along with the accused, the names of shooters who are out of the discussion are coming to the fore. When interests are at stake, associates are being sent to remove the thorns in the path. But the violence does not reduce the people who ordered the killings. As a result, the mystery of the killings remains unknown in many cases.
After each killing mission, the value of top terrorists increases in the extortion market. Intelligence sources said that the heated context of the killing mission to kill top terrorist Khandaker Naeem Ahmed Titon has expanded due to the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha-centric extortion and to take control of the cattle markets that are leased to two city corporations in Dhaka. With the help of technology, law enforcement agencies are getting information about the extortion of Sanjidul Islam Emon, Mehedi Hasan and another top terrorist. But since no victim has filed a complaint with the police, they are not getting specific information about this.
It is believed that the targeted individuals are compromising due to the fear of target killing. Meanwhile, the fear of the underworld is not decreasing, and there is panic in the public mind. Many businessmen are getting scared when they see foreign numbers. Political leaders are also not out of fear. The big question now is why the importance of top terrorists in controlling dish and internet business, garment factory fraud, household garbage, contracting work and area-based extortion is not reduced.
Associate Professor of Dhaka University, Criminologist Dr. Tawohidul Haque said, "Top terrorists use modern technology. As a result, it becomes difficult for our country's law enforcement agencies to monitor them. There are also allegations of political patronage and ally between terrorists and some of those who will take action. This keeps top terrorists out of the picture."
He believes that bringing terrorists on bail under surveillance and taking visible punitive measures against them will increase people's confidence. In this regard, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said, "The law enforcement agencies are taking action according to the law regarding top terrorists who have been released from prison on bail and if any criminal activity occurs, it will be brought under the law through investigation."
Why the killing mission plan takes place: A police source said that killings occur more often due to internal conflicts between terrorists in the underworld. Usually, when a group shares a bribe, when a shooter of a group becomes a hero in a perfect killing, shooters are used to rein it in, take control of a new area, remove its leadership, and find the person of choice for lease and tender. Apart from this, when political leaders and contractors get a large sum of money for a project, they demand a large sum of money from them. If they refuse to pay the bribe, the killing mission begins. Apart from this, underworld terrorists agree to contract killings in exchange for large sums of money.
Extortion centering Eid on the rise: Several targeted killings in the capital in the past year and a half show that the top terrorists are becoming more violent in their power struggle. After the murder of Titon in the New Market area of the capital on April 28, the dispute over the lease of the Basila livestock market came into the spotlight. Investigators said that the plan to kill Titon was not based on the livestock market alone. There are bigger interests behind this. Top terrorist Emon controls the entire area from Gabtoli to Mohammadpur, Rayerbazar and Lalbagh. He is currently staying in a North American country. Although Titon is his brother-in-law, Emon is not beyond suspicion in this murder. However, Titon's family has filed a case naming four people. They are Imamul Hasan Helal alias Picchi Helal, Badal alias Killer Badal alias Kaila Badal, Shahjahan, Roni alias Dagari Roni.
