The much-awaited 13th National Parliament election and referendum ended peacefully, except for a few isolated incidents. There was a festive atmosphere among voters inside and outside the polling stations. There were long lines of men and women at the polling stations.
The most noticeable thing among the spontaneous presence of young people who came to vote was the coexistence of party activists and agents. It was seen on a visit to the polling stations that voters were voting in an orderly manner with their national identity cards in hand and leaving the polling stations. In the gatherings held at restaurants, sidewalks and tea shops around the polling stations, BNP, Jamaat and NCP leaders and activists were reviewing the election results together.
Farhana Akhter, a resident of Dhaka-11 constituency, said, "I came to vote with my friends. I was shocked to see the atmosphere at the polling stations. The candidates' agents cooperated. Unlike other years, party workers were not found at the polling stations."
The same situation was observed when visiting the polling stations of Dhaka-9 and Dhaka-11 constituencies. Although there were 10 candidates in both constituencies, agents of four to five candidates were found in most constituencies. However, agents of Football, Sake, and Rising Sun were not found in any of the centers.
Agents of BNP, NCP, Jamaat, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh were seen coexisting in every center and assisting voters. The officials in charge of the centers said that voting has been going on in a peaceful atmosphere since morning. The participation of young voters was noticeable. Many are taking pictures to remember their first voting experience, while some are sharing their feelings on social media. Confidence among voters in the proper performance of their duties by those involved in the election has increased.
Minhajul Abedin, the presiding officer of Faizur Rahman Center, said that the fairest election in history has been held, and festivities were observed among voters.
