BNP will hold its first mass rally in the capital on Friday with like-minded political parties on 10-point demands, including a neutral government during the election period, and through this, the party is preparing for a big showdown.
For this reason, BNP is holding phased meetings with like-minded parties. Liaison Committee is being formed.
BNP said the rally will start in front of BNP's central office in Nayapaltan of the capital. Then the procession will go to Banglamotor via Kakrail Mor, Shantinagar-Malibag-Mouchak-Mogbazar and end. Mass procession will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on Friday.
Those concerned said that the party wants to pressurize the government by organizing a simultaneous movement with all the parties and demanding elections mainly under the caretaker government.
Like-minded-12 party alliance, 11-party 'Jatiyatabadi Samamona Jote’, 7-party alliance Gonotontro Moncho have also announced the success of this program from their respective positions. Apart from this, Jamaat-e-Islami and LDP have announced to be on the streets alone. As many parties are preparing to take the field, there are indications of a big showdown centered around a mass rally in the capital.
Top leader of the 12-party alliance is Jatiya Party (Zafar) chairman Mostafa Jamal Haider said, On December 30, the 12-party alliance will hold separate mass rallies in the capital.
“Our journey of simultaneous movement is starting. I hope that through the simultaneous movement, the victory of the country and the nation will fly. History witnesses the results of the simultaneous movement in favor of the people,” he said.
Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, convener of Bhasani Anusari Parishad, member of the Gonotontro Moncho said, “People have no right to speak, no right to vote. So they have no right to be in power. Our demand is to step down quickly and leave the power to the national government.”
Fariduzzaman Farhad, chairman of the National People's Party (NPP) and coordinator 'Jatiyatabadi Samamona Jote' said, “We will go to Malibagh with a procession from Purana Paltan. the nationalist like-minded alliance will be in the field to establish 10 points against corruption and looting.”
Sources said that the election under a non-partisan caretaker government by abolishing the current parliament, release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and other arrested leaders and activists, including the 10-point implementation of the mass march program.
BNP has been observing 'Black Day' for several years on December 30, the day of the 11th National Assembly elections held in 2018.
Party leaders said that the day carries a special significance as there is a mass rally on that day. A message has already been sent to the police station and ward leaders of BNP to ensure the large presence of leaders and activists in the capital on December 30.
BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said, “On December 24, the police stopped at various places across the country. Abdur Rashid of BNP was shot dead in Panchgarh. However, the mass procession could not be stopped. Mass rally will be successful in Dhaka on 30th December.”
“Our journey has started with success. The people will dismiss this government through a mass coup in the collective movement of the people,” he added.
