After accepting the murder case over the death of late Dhallywood superstar Salman Shah, the court has ordered the officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramna Police Station to conduct a re-investigation and submit a report.
On Monday, Dhaka's Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Jannatul Ferdous Ibne Haque delivered the verdict after approving the revision filed by the plaintiff.
Salman Shah died on September 6, 1996, at the age of just 27. His ex-wife Samira Haque claimed that the actor's sudden death was a 'suicide'. The hero's family did not accept this. On July 24, 1997, Salman's father Qamaruddin Ahmed Chowdhury filed a case alleging that his son was murdered.
At that time, the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court ordered the CID to investigate the murder case together with the accidental death case. In view of the CID's final report, the CMM court ruled Salman Shah's death a 'suicide' on November 25, 1997. Salman's father filed a revision case, rejecting it.
The judicial investigation of the revision case began in 2003. After a long 11 years, on August 3, 2014, Metropolitan Magistrate Imdadul Haque submitted a report in which Salman Shah's death was called 'untimely death'.
Then, when Quamaruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, the plaintiff in the case of her son's death, died, Salman Shah's mother Neela Chowdhury was included as a plaintiff in the case. In 2015, she filed an objection against the judicial investigation report in the CMM court. At that time, the investigation of the case fell on the PBI.
On February 25, 2020, PBI Police Inspector Sirajul Islam submitted the final report to the court, and on October 31, 2021, the court accepted the report and disposed of the case.
The plaintiff filed a revision case in the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court on June 12, 2022, against the order to dispose of the case. In the revision case, it is said that the murder was covered up due to the influence of multiple people. The well-planned murder is being called 'suicide' and 'untimely death'. Therefore, a fair investigation is necessary to establish the truth.
