Renowned Indian classical musician Shiraz Ali Khan, great-grandson of Ustad Allauddin Khan, is set to perform in Dhaka. The event, hosted by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, will take place at Lalbagh Fort in the capital tomorrow and will also feature talented young Bangladeshi artistes.
Shiraz Khan will showcase his mastery of the sarod at a classical evening organised to commemorate his great-grandfather’s 163rd birthday.
This marks Shiraz Ali Khan’s second performance in the city, following his acclaimed 2022 concert, “Melodious Journey of Shiraz Ali Khan,” organised by the Satori Academy of Arts.
Shiraz Ali Khan began his journey in North Indian classical music at the age of five under his father, the late Professor Dhyanesh Khan. He further honed his craft under the guidance of his grandfather, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, his uncle Ustad Aashish Khan, and his aunt Smt. Ameena Perera, mastering the Beenkar and Rababiya Anga styles rooted in the Dhrupad tradition.
