Pakistani Sufi rock band Junoon’s iconic vocalist Ali Azmat is set to perform live in Dhaka.
According to the official Facebook page of the concert organizer Assen Buzz, the event titled "Ali Azmat (Voice of Junoon) Live in Dhaka" will take place on November 14 at the United Convention Center in Dhaka.
The organizers announced that ticket sales began last Thursday, and are available in multiple categories through the "Get Set Rock" website.
Ali Azmat had initially announced his visit back in February this year. The concert was originally planned for May, but was postponed to the new November date.
Ali Azmat was the lead vocalist of Pakistan’s band Junoon from 1991 to 2005, during which he rose to fame as "The Voice of Junoon." Later in 2006, he formed another band called "Social Circus." This will be his third visit to Bangladesh. He last performed in Dhaka at the Folk Fest in 2019.
Junoon, a Pakistani band renowned for pioneering Sufi rock, released their debut album "Junoon" in 1991 and has gone on to release a total of nine albums, with notable titles like "Talaash," "Inquilaab," and "Azadi"; their most popular songs include "Sayonee," "Jazba-e-Junoon," "Saaien," and "Khudi".
Since its formation, Ali Azmat’s band Social Circus has also released several albums. Apart from his band work, Azmat has lent his voice to Bollywood as well. He sang "Garaj Baras" for the 2003 film "Paap", and later lent his voice to songs like "Maula" and "Yeh Jism Hai Tera" in the 2012 film "Jism 2."
