Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that its streaming service HBO Max will launch direct-to-consumer in several Asia Pacific markets, including Bangladesh, on 15 October. Other markets in the rollout include Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The platform will feature content from HBO, the DC Universe, Harry Potter, Cartoon Network, Max Originals, and a selection of Discovery brands such as TLC, Food Network and HGTV.
At launch, subscribers will have access to major HBO and Max Originals including House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, The Penguin and The Pitt, along with international hits and non-fiction programming. The upcoming HBO Original drama IT: Welcome to Derry, based on Stephen King’s novel, will also premiere on the service.
The service will support multiple devices, personalised profiles and a simplified user interface.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s Global Streaming and Games chief executive, JB Perrette, said, “The expansion marks another step in HBO Max’s growth, adding that the platform will be available in more than 100 markets worldwide by the end of the year, with further launches planned in 2026.”
