Renowned Lalon singer Farida Parveen was placed on life support at around 5:30pm on Wednesday (10 September) after her health condition deteriorated.
Dr Ashis Kumar Chakraborty, Managing Director of Universal Medical College Hospital, confirmed the development to the media, saying her blood pressure had dropped to a critical level while infection had worsened.
“She is also suffering from kidney complications and is unable to breathe normally. For these reasons, the medical team has decided to keep her on life support. Overall, her condition is critical,” he said.
Parveen, who has long been battling kidney problems, was admitted to the hospital on September 2 for dialysis. Following the procedure, her condition worsened and she was shifted to the ICU. With further decline on Wednesday, doctors decided to put her on ventilation.
Speaking about her health, her husband, noted instrumentalist Gazi Abdul Hakim, said: “Overall, her condition is not good. Over the past few months, she has had to be admitted to the ICU four times. She continues to struggle with complications related to her lungs and kidneys.”
