Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has expressed his gratitude after recovering from illness, resuming work, and receiving support from colleagues, leaders, and well-wishers.
Farooki suddenly fell sick on the evening of August 16 while attending a workshop in Cox’s Bazar. He was airlifted to Dhaka around 10:30 pm that night and admitted to Square Hospital, where he underwent appendix surgery. Doctors later confirmed that he was out of danger and responding well to treatment.
In a Facebook post on Thursday night, Farooki wrote, “Good health is a gift! Alhamdulillah I am back to work and happy to be contributing as much as I can. I am grateful to have Tisha as my partner in this journey called life, to have Ilham as our source of strength!”
The filmmaker conveyed his appreciation to Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus and his colleagues, saying, “My sincere gratitude to the Honorable Chief Advisor and all my colleagues who constantly kept monitoring my treatment, to political leaders who showed their love and support, and to everyone who kept me in their prayers.”
Farooki also acknowledged Jahangir Hossain and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan for arranging an urgent medical airlift when his condition deteriorated.
“Special thanks to Jahangir bhai and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan for ensuring a quick airlift which helped the doctors take prompt measures as my condition turned critical in no time!” he noted.
He further thanked Dr A A Mamun and the medical team at Square Hospital, stating, “My gratitude to doctor A A Mamun and everyone at Square hospital!”
Sharing his joy of returning to work, Farooki acknowledged receiving a gift from the head of the US mission: “Finally upon returning from my first full day of work, I am glad to receive this beautiful gift from Ambassador Tracey Jacobson. Thank you for your good wishes.”
