Although no official announcement has been made regarding his next project following “Taandob”, rumours about Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan’s upcoming role are already circulating within the industry.
The actor is expected to return from the United States next week to take up the script of a new action film—sparking speculation not only about the storyline but also the film’s title.
Several media outlets have claimed that the “King Khan” of Dhallywood will portray Major Sinha in his next venture, a rumour linked to the controversial Cox’s Bazar incident of 2020.
However, industry insiders suggest that Shakib’s role will differ from those reports.
According to a source close to the production, Shakib will not be playing an army officer but rather a former ruthless operative of a state intelligence agency.
In this role, his character will undertake high-risk missions for the nation—sometimes covertly, sometimes openly—occasionally influencing the country’s political sphere.
While inspired by certain real-life events, the narrative will be enriched with dramatic elements to deliver a high-intensity cinematic experience.
The film will also present a major challenge for director Shakib Fahad, who will be making his big-screen debut after working extensively in advertising and television drama.
The female lead has yet to be finalized. Filming is set to commence in September, with a planned simultaneous release in Bangladesh, the United States, Canada, and the Middle East in December next year.
Whether Shakib Khan will indeed step into the shoes of “Major Sinha” or introduce audiences to a new, enigmatic intelligence agent remains to be seen—but expectations are high for an action-packed return to the silver screen.
