Bangladeshi Towfique Elahi's "Neelpodmo" (The Blue Lotus) has won the Best Feature Film award at Japan’s Tokyo Lift-Off Festival 2025.
Sharing the news of the award, the director said yesterday, "Neelpodmo" was in the selection list of the Tokyo Lift-Off Festival. The jury members were evaluating and analyzing the film from various perspectives. I was receiving all the updates via email. But I never imagined that it would surpass many selected films and win the Best Feature Film award.”
Towfique Elahi added, "Neelpodmo" is a research-based creation of mine. The organizers had informed me about it via email earlier, but I was late in checking my email, which is why I’m sharing the news only now.
“This is the first honor for "Neelpodmo".It’s not just my achievement alone it belongs to the entire team, including the artists, crew members, and everyone involved in the making of this film.”
The film stars Runa Khan and Rashed Mamun Apu in prominent roles, with Rokeya Prachy, Sujat Shimul, Shahed Ali, and A K Azad Setu also contributing significant performances, among others.
